Now that the pre-trip has been completed (it was tough duty, but somebody had to do it), we have finally arrived in the convention city of Harare. The local Witnesses have taken over this airport! I feel sorry for the other travelers. We are being treated like royalty. From baggage claim, we were whisked off to this special ground transport area where we were serenaded by the Norton congregation. They sang songs in both English and Shona. Absolutely beautiful (video clip available on Instagram).
So many wonderful experiences to recount. Have to share this one I just heard about today. Victoria Falls is at least a 14 hour drive away from Harare. But despite the poor economic conditions many of our friends have to endure in this country, they are eager to attend this historic convention - the first ever in Zimbabwe! One brother could not afford to bring his family on the long journey. His employer happened to call him in for a special job just this last week. His assignment: lead a tour group of Jehovah's Witnesses visiting Victoria Falls on their way to Harare. Guess what? He received so many tips from his tour group, that he will be able to bring his whole family to the convention. Can't wait to enjoy the convention with that family this weekend!

Touching experience of the Brother and the fact that he can bring his entire family.
ReplyDeleteThe video of the song is absolutely beautiful. Love and a generous spirit is shown by our brothers and sisters located here indeed.
ReplyDeleteJehovah made sure that brother and his family could attend the convention, how well he takes care of his people.
