Thanks to Bob Rains, we were all able to get rooms in the Brooklyn Bethel Towers building. Maydelle was particularly excited as this was her first opportunity to stay overnight at Bethel and attend Monday night's family worship program. She also had an extra special treat to spend some time with her cousin Terri who gave us a tour of the Branch committee floor and roof top with its amazing views of Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge and the famous Watchtower and JW.org signs.
After family worship it was time for Samone to leave the travel crew :-(. Wish we could take her with us for the next adventure. A quick trip back to Penn Station and she was on her way. The long way. Took wrong train and ended up in Dover, DE! Not the ideal way to end such a fabulous trip. She made it home safely at some ungodly hour the next morning.
When we returned to Brooklyn that night, Andria had the brilliant idea to find street parking. Found the perfect spot to lug bags up to our room. Well, the next day, we enjoyed morning worship and quick with William and Joy Redd who came up from their circuit assignment in Queens just to bid us a quick hello and farewell. Then we decided, to leave the car parked and take the subway to complete our NYC experience.
Integrity Tour @ the MET
Went back to the MET for our second amazing tour. We met friends from Colorado, Michigan, and missionaries from Bangkok. Integrity was defined as moral soundness and wholehearted godly devotion. A few quotes of the day: "Integrity is non-negotiable. You either keep it or you break it." "Nationalism is to integrity what rust is to metal: corrosive and destructive." We learned much about how our brothers and sisters maintained integrity despite the challenges of their day. Reminded us that if they could do it, we can do it too.
What a way to end the day
When we returned to Brooklyn, Stacy was eager to get his luggage from the car, do some laundry, and get all packed for the big trip to Jo'burg. So he went ahead of Maydelle and I as we wanted to stop at the market. After walking the full length of the wrong street, he soon discovered that the car was not where we parked it last night. The rental car had been ticketed and towed. After making a sizable donation to the NYPD, we retrieved car and our bags, found a legitimate parking spot, and went off for some NY pizza at Grimaldi's. Then we enjoyed warm hospitality with the Rains in their penthouse suite, did our laundry, packed our bags and fell promptly to sleep (it was more like a 4 hours power nap). Can't wait to see the friends at the airport at 5 am tomorrow!
