A day at the museum

What's my name?
Planned for a leisure morning but woke up at 4:30am like I had somewhere to go.  Studied WT lesson for Sunday meeting and then fell asleep again.  At 8am.  About the time when everyone else was ready to get up. Including the man who decided Sat morning would be a good time to repair the wall outside of my bedroom. Woke up thinking someone was knocking in my dreams.

Ready to go, Maydelle noticed we were all wearing dresses (except Stacy).  So she changed.  Twice.  Then she couldn't find her badge.  Turned room upside down. Invited us all to join in the search. No badge.  We traced her steps and looked under bed, behind couch. Stacy reassured her that it would turn up or we would get her another one soon.  And sure enough, while we sat at cute little cafe awaiting our breakfast, what did she find in her fanny pack?

Great experience to share at Richol Cafe and Bakery.  I noticed a man sitting at nearby table alone. Had my JW.org tracts ready. Slid one to Stacy and nodded towards that table.  But our food came and since Stacy is easily distracted, the tract was left on the table which was then picked up by the guy cleaning the tables.

Outside the cafe, I asked Stacy what happened.  He said the worker guy picked it up.  Told him "not that guy, THAT guy."  Gave him another tract.  He went back inside. The man was so appreciative.  He also said, "Thank you for your prayer earlier.  I really needed to hear that today."  We had no idea he was listening but Jehovah was obviously watching.

How do you work this thing?
So many new experiences for the travel crew on this trip. The apartment door lock proved to be a stumper. When the girls' key wouldn't fit the front door, we tried it on the back door (which is actually a door leading to one of the bedrooms). It worked kinda.  Would unlock the door but not the knob.  So since the boys' key was unavailable (Stacy left us for some non-girl time in the car), what are we to do?  Call the landlord (they live on 2nd floor). Linda came right upstairs, gave us a quick tutorial and we were off to the next challenge.

In addition to the practice with parallel parking that I'm getting driving around town, Stacy has discovered a new game that's specially designed for NY tourists.  The Parking Meter.  It had a screen, some buttons and slots, and a few instructions.  The most important one being: "Insert credit card first".  Samone went over to rescue Stacy from the machine. Thanks Cassie!  Who's Cassie you might ask?  Ask Stacy.

Great experience at Richol Cafe and Baker

The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Tour: The Woman and the Seed.  Met friends on tour from Detroit, Washingtion State, California, even some friends who are on their way to Zimbabwe!!!!  Bro Allen Mitchell provided an outstanding tour - thank you!  Helped us further understand such interesting things about how the first two lies spoken in Garden of Eden have been perpetuated by Satan's system from that time forward.  Why Joseph was sold into slavery?  Why Moses was put in that basket?  Why Esther went before her husband the king even though he had not called her to do so?  Can't wait for the Integrity Tour on Tuesday.

Where can I find a good pizza?
In NY area, there are over 4,400 restaurants that claim to be Italian.  We met a group of about 15 friends from our old CT congregation at 900 Park in the Bronx. Since the friends who made the reservations were running behind schedule (they got lost - thanks Ruthie), we made the executive decision to take our place at the reserved table, order apps and drinks and by the time the others arrived, we well into our meal.  Delicious (both the food and the friends)!

What time do we have to leave in the morning?
The little time at the restaurant was not enough for me and Ruthie, so we decided to take her home with us. Now Stacy is sharing his home with 4 women.  And he doesn't miss a beat.  So gracious and accommodating.  Making sure we are all accounted for - no one left alone at any one time.

Did I forget to mention that our apartment only has one bathroom.
And that now Stacy is here with 4 women.
This will be a test of his sanity.
