Up too late last night. But woke up at 3:30 with a smile on my face. Stacy's alarm was singing the popular tune "Start spreading the news; I'm leaving today. I want to be a part of it - New York, New York." This felt like an appropriate start to the day given our travel plans. Unfortunately, I soon lost my smile as Stacy hit snooze and I heard that song again, and again, and again. To escape, I jumped out of bed, drove over to Maydelle's, and made it back home in time for our 4:30am airport transport. Wes was right on time and got us to the airport without incident (thanks Dawn). He even took our first travel photo as proof of his job well done.
In an attempt to catch up on rest, I slept for most of the journey. Head bobbing, little drool dribbling sleep. Except when Stacy woke me up to see these amazing sunrise views. Jehovah is the greatest artist!
Due to flight delays in XNA, we had little more than 30 minutes between flights. Have no fear: Stacy ran to our connection agate to make sure we didn't miss the Atlanta to NY flight. It was at gate 28 and he said "I didn't get winded until gate - then I slowed down so that I could still look cool." Maydelle is keeping up with us pretty good and even got to share the JW.org tract with a man on the flight.
Are we there yet?
Once we arrived and got all our luggage into our brand new red Ford Edge, it was time to pick up Samone at Penn Station. So we turned on Siri and got on the GCP to LIE to the MTT (NY lingo). I forgot how bad NYC traffic, construction, one way street can be but I enjoyed acting like a taxi driver. Needless to say, I think my travel crew plans to take the subway into the city tomorrow.
Now at the Brooklyn apartment which will be home base for the weekend - right in an authentic Bed-Sty neighborhood. Streets lined with beautiful brownstones on every side. Remember the street the Cosby family lived on? This is probably their neighborhood years BEFORE they moved in and spruced it up a bit. Change is in the air and big things are soon to come given the scaffolding across the entire front of our building. Stacy got to workout his chivalry muscles lugging all the large bags up to our 3rd floor apartment. Except for Maydelle's bag - she insisted on bouncing hers all the way up all by herself while Samone and I waited downstairs.
So what do we want to do with our first night in the big Apple? Eat! Sleep! In that order.
